About the Role

Verterra Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to all phases of product design, development, prototyping, manufacturing and operational support. This engineer will be a critical part of Verterra Energy’s technology development process and will transition concepts through prototyping and into production. The successful candidate will be responsible for component and subsystem design and engineering, analysis, validation and performance testing, systems integration, part prototyping, assembly, along with on-site installation, in-field commissioning and operation, and related activities.

The ideal candidate will have a curious and thoughtful mind with a passion for engineering and a strong, “hands-on” mechanical aptitude and can quickly adapt to evolving timelines and objectives. We are looking for individuals who want to contribute during the startup phase and be a part of company growth.

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive attitude, a passion for excellence, and contribute to the well-being of fellow team members

  • Advance novel designs based on operational requirements while adhering to sound mechanical design and engineering methods including design for manufacturing and assembly. 

  • Oversee vendors, contractors, technicians and other service providers assisting in the development process and monitor production progress on pilot production runs of new designs. 

  • Provide estimations of the amount of work required for completion of the assigned product development tasks and advise team members as schedules evolve. 

  • Continuously research and evaluate “state of the art” technologies in areas relevant to renewable energy technologies and mechanical system technologies. 

  • Assist in the development of design control methodologies from product specification through transfer to manufacturing. 


Professional Qualifications

  • BS or greater in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university. 

  • 5+ years of experience in a technology or product (hardware) development setting. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. 

  • Highly competent with engineering first principles. 

  • Understanding of 3D solid modeling with the ability to generate quality engineering drawings. 

  • Familiarity with Matlab, LabView, MathCAD or similar applications. 

  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs 

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. 


This position will work primarily from the Verterra Energy, Inc headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.
