About the Role
Verterra Energy is seeking a Composite Materials Research and Design Engineer who will perform multiple duties to support composite part design, development and production along with advancing the company’s overall composites knowledge and capability. The ideal candidate should possess a solid working knowledge of composite materials and their processing methods along with an understanding of the documentation that is necessary to support production. The ideal candidate will have a mix of managerial and hands-on experience, who knows how to plan and execute. Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, to management, other team members and end users.
Fabricate high quality tooling, parts and related components from composite materials.
3D solid modeling (Solidworks) and 2D drafting experience.
Provide estimation of the amount of work required for completion of assigned product development tasks and advise team member as schedules change.
Oversee outside vendors, contractors, technicians and draftspersons assisting in the development process and monitor production progress on pilot production runs of new designs.
Conceive, develop, implement, and evaluate new tooling, parts and productions methods.
Communicate with team members the end users of designs to gather feedback, provide technical support and troubleshoot problems.
Generate procedural support documents and user manuals for developed products.
Create verification plans for component and system designs.

Professional Qualifications
A technical degree in composites, or equivalent experience in engineering and composite fabrication.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in support of engineering or R&D composites-based product development programs.
Fluent in English.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
3D Solid modeling (Solidworks) and 2D drafting experience
Experience using mathematics software such as Matlab, Labview or MathCAD
Authorized to work in the US
This position will work primarily from the Verterra Energy, Inc headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.
This is a hands-on position, so the candidate will be equally at ease in the field, machine shop or behind a desk working virtually or directly with hardware and instruments. Fabrication, prototyping and testing will be routine activities.
